This textured abstract composition explores the tension between industrial and organic sensibilities through a striking palette of oxidised copper, burnt sienna, and electric turquoise. Built up in layered strata, the work reveals a strong vertical architecture — a central turquoise column flanked by warmer, weathered fields of rust and ochre — suggesting a doorway, gate, or passage rendered in the language of abstraction.

The surface bears the marks of its own making: raised textural ridges, stitched or laced linear elements that traverse the picture plane like seams or wire, and a mottled, corroded finish reminiscent of aged metal or ancient stone. A silvered panel near the top interrupts the warm tonality, while a small dark medallion in the lower register anchors the composition and echoes the circular void motifs found throughout.

The interplay of matte and raised textures rewards close viewing, with the tactile surface catching light differently depending on the angle — a quality that photographs only partially capture. The overall effect is one of excavation or archaeology: a surface that feels less painted than uncovered, as though revealing something buried beneath layers of time and weather.
