Description
Fractured Gold 01
Acrylic on canvas, 2026
Framed dimensions: approx. 52.5cm × 52.5cm (framed white float frame)
A vibrant abstract composition built from layered blocks of magenta, deep pink, and ochre, interrupted by fields of chalky white and slate grey. Bright turquoise breaks through the surface in loose, gestural bursts, tracing the edges of underlying forms and lending the work a sense of erosion or excavation, as though brighter colour lies beneath a worn, painted skin.
The composition is loosely structured in a grid of overlapping rectangles, their edges softened by drips, scraping, and visible canvas texture. This interplay between geometric order and painterly spontaneity creates a tension between control and chance — architectural in its bones, expressive in its surface.
Warm golds and mustard tones anchor the lower and central passages, offset by cooler patches of grey and white that read almost like windows or voids within the dense field of colour. A hand-applied wax seal and pencil numbering in the lower right corner mark the piece as part of a numbered original series, initialled by the artist.
