Description
Shore Line 01
Mixed media on canvas
A sweeping diagonal current of colour moves across the canvas, transitioning from soft, sun-bleached cream at the upper left into luminous turquoise and finally into deep, churning indigo at the lower right. The composition reads as an elemental study of water and light — the pale, textured passage at top suggesting sand, mist, or shallow foam. At the same time, the saturated blues below convey depth, current, and undertow.
The surface is richly worked, with visible brushwork and scumbled texture lending a sense of movement and atmospheric depth; darker, almost charcoal-toned strokes are woven through the deeper blues, adding weight and turbulence beneath the brighter turquoise surface. The gradual, unforced transition between tones gives the piece a natural, tidal rhythm, as though capturing the exact moment where shallow water deepens into open sea.
Restrained in palette but expansive in feeling, the painting balances serenity with quiet intensity — an immersive, contemplative work suited to spaces that call for calm, oceanic depth.
