Description
This artwork exudes a powerful sense of balance, tension, and
material presence, achieved through a refined interplay of
geometric structure, earthy colour fields, and gestural marks.
The composition is divided into bold rectangular blocks of ochre
gold, slate grey, off-white, and deep brown-black, intersected
by a strong vertical white band running through the centre,
crossed horizontally by a dark, weighty strip. This cruciform
structure anchors the composition, creating a feeling of
architectural precision — almost like a minimalist façade or a
symbolic threshold.
At the intersection, a central rust-hued form bursts through the
geometry. Surrounded by loosely sketched circular and linear
orange-red markings, it introduces a raw, organic counterpoint to
the otherwise clean divisions. Paint drips from this central form
downward, like oxidised metal bleeding over time, emphasising
material decay and emotional release. The surface bears subtle
textural variations, with visible brushwork and layered opacity that
give the piece depth and tactility.
The restrained palette — dominated by warm ochres, rust tones,
and neutral greys — evokes industrial materials: steel, concrete,
and oxidised metal. The precise structure contrasted with
expressive drips and marks creates a dynamic tension between
order and entropy, construction and erosion, containment
and expression
